And the winner is...

...no decoupage.

The next part of the process is to replace the sewing machine.  As you read the original was unusable so the replacement plan is:

"The Janome 712T treadle sewing machine allows you to sew with no electrical power. The Janome 712T sewing machine has 10 utility stitches plus a built-in buttonhole stitch, and a flatbed design to fit existing sewing cabinetry. The top-loading bobbin system and the handy threading guide make changing top and bottom thread easy. And legendary Janome stitch quality helps make learning to sew frustration-free for students and teachers alike."

I haven't ordered it yet but and hoping to soon.  I saved my Christmas money to go toward the purchase.

  1. Are you planning on putting the Janome in the old cabinet, hopefully? I have a treadle in my livingroom. Sometimes Ivy, my black cat, sleeps on top, adjacent to a glass lamp...Yes, when I use the treadle, and it;s not a sunny day, I use an electric light! Funny me! Anyway, love my treadle! Am just starting to fix up an upstairs room for a proper sewing room. Will post9on my blog) how it goes! D.

  2. "Sewing frustration-free" would be a complete impossibility for me! Sewing has always been an exercise in frustration...but, I have other gifts (I guess). LOL What an exciting and beautiful project for you though!!

  3. I have never heard of a Janome. I had no idea they still made a machine that can be used without electricity. Very cool! I used to love to sew.

    1. Isn't that fun. They are made for the Amish or people living off the grid.
