What is Beauty?

Last Saturday was our Women's Retreat at church.  Some beautiful thoughts were shared and I thought I would pass them on.

Breaking down Barriers
We as women are told that we need to look a certain way to be beautiful.  We are told by TV, magazines, social media, even the line at the grocery store is loaded with pictures and 'be perfect as the world says you should be'  as we check out.

Ladies what a lie  - please don't buy into that lie.

As my dear friend shared, "We are not measured by our pants size".  (or skirt size) So true we are more than that.

It starts early - even our toys tell us what perfection is...

This is how we would really look with 'Barbies' proportions

Not really very pretty is it...

Fake Beauty

Some of God's beautiful handiwork:

You are the handiwork of God.  You are made in his image.  He is your Maker.  I hope when you look in the mirror you see wonder.

Chessie

Well today was the big day.  Last night we did the finial preparations around the house.  Then first thing this morning I headed out to buy a GIANT crate.  I kid you not I can get in and out of it.  Puppy food for large breeds, a few chew toys, and a stuffed animal for dogs (Martha Stewart)., a harness for the car (thought we should start that from day one and she won't know the difference), collar, leash,...  You get the picture.

I thought I would share some pictures of our new arrival.  :-)

As you can see it is cold and windy here.  I threw one of Craig's big shirts on over my vest as It was so cold!

Beautiful Girl

The pup on the right is ours.

I realize these are not the best pictures.  But I had to get a few on my phone to share.

This is our newest family member.  I will pick her up Friday.

She will get her first shots Friday and then be on a two week shot schedule until she is 16 weeks old.
We want to make sure she is healthy and protected.

It was amazing.  I wondered how we would know which pup to choose.  The truth is she choose us.  We were looking at all the the dogs and she sat down a foot or so in front of me and just stared for a bit.  She then decided we were her family and came over .   We held her and loved on her.  She was very well socialized.  Put her down to look at another.  What did she do just came over and curled up by my knee and sacked out.  Craig and I both agreed she was the one.

We are now trying to come up with a name.  So far we have Ember or  Ebony.  If you have any great name ideas for a black lab puppy we would love to hear them.
