Did you watch the debate last night...

This was a question I asked a gal at work.  Just a conversation opener.

Her response "No, I never watch any of that.  I don't vote.  I never have and never will."   (This woman is in her 50's I'm sure.)

I was stunned to say the least.  "You don't vote?"
"No, I don't care about any of it."

Well I didn't know what to say.  My response to her was, "Well I guess you can't ever complain because you  don't vote."  "Nope, I just don't care."

Wow.  I was raised that you vote, that it is a right and also a duty.  We also raised our boys to vote.  Not who to vote for that is the beauty of this country to have the right to cast your vote however you see fit, but to vote.  People fought and died for that right I just can't imagine not taking advantage of the privilege.

(Yes, I do realize it is her right not to vote.  But it just is not within my understanding.)

  1. I vote, but I do not get real involved in the political parties, I just vote for the lesser evil, I believe when we get so involved in politics that we lose our focus on what is important and that is following Christ and being in his Word, some people go to the extreme. I believe that God doesn't need our help He already has it planned out, (who the next president will be), my husband says that he is not voting this year

  2. You are right, God does have it all in control and has it all planned out. I guess I feel like by voting I am casting my vote for the person I think will do the best job... And yes, sometimes it is the lesser of two evils.

Thank you for your words of wisdom and insight.

  3. I totally agree, it is our God given right to vote. You know, some times people will not vote and then complain about what the president does or doesn't do..I would love to say, "well. you shouldn't complain, since you didn't vote" lol..
I feel we have to stand for what we believe in. God is in control, and has it already planned. Now ,we as His children are to do our parts. I agree , sometimes it is very difficult to choose the lesser of 2 evils.
I am a very prolife person, so I would hate to know I didn't at least try to do my part.
God bless you and your family.
